Welcome to the Aiyer Family homepage on the World Wide Web!
We're glad you are here, and if you've been here before you will notice some changes.
That's all four of us above.
Geeta is to my left, me being the one with the white hair.
Lila being held in place by my left arm and Jaya is showing her teeth.
We are all smiling for a photograph -- we must have been on drugs or something that day
since that never happens. It was a nice fall day in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.
Four years ago Lila was in love with Van Gogh -- hence the Van Gogh theme for this web-site.
I have yet to find a better theme and especially like it now
since it matches the unfocussed photograph. One of these days I will be forced to use a better photo.
We have uploaded a few photographs to the site and you can look at them by using
this link.
Enjoy your visit!
I have been working on a retelling of
the Mahabharata
from 1989 -- you can follow the Mahabharata link to read about it.
If you are wondering why I am not done with it, it's because I am slow.
You can also look at my
resume.
That's just in case you want to hire my consulting services.

Why "one in a million"? Well, I tried to estimate how many Aiyers
(Iyer/Ayyar/occasionally Ayer) there are in the world and I think there are between
between 1 and 4 million of us. Aiyers are an Indian sub-caste originally from the south of India.
In the last hundred years there has been a diaspora of Ayyars (along with other Indians) and they
are spread all over the world. The vast majority are still in the south of India.
Making this estimate occasions much debate,
so if you disagree, you can send me email, and I'll read it if it has a meaningful subject.
But we may be unable to resolve it without some real counting and I don't know who'll do that.
At four people to a family, that makes an Aiyer family one in a million.
